Considered Dangerous, Police Raid Firecrackers In Several Stores
A number of personnel from the Garut Police Samapta Unit conducted raids on firecrackers at a number of fireworks selling sites on the side of the road and shops in the urban area of Garut Regency, West Java, to provide a sense of security and comfort for the community during Ramadan 1444 Hijri.
"The Samapta Unit Dalmas Unit appealed to firecracker traders not to trade firecrackers freely to minors," said Head of the Garut Police Samapta Unit, Iptu Masrokan, Antara, Sunday, February 26.
He said a number of personnel were deployed to inspect every place suspected of selling firecrackers and other types of explosives on Jalan Pasar Baru and elsewhere in Garut Kota.
The results of the examination, he said, were still traders selling firecrackers, even though there had been warnings and examples of incidents due to firecracker explosions that caused casualties and material losses.
He conveyed that traders who were caught selling firecrackers, while not confiscated, were given a warning so that the goods would not be sold to the public, if in the future they were still selling them, they would be confiscated.
"We will coach and appeal first, with a predetermined time lag, and later the sale will still be confiscated," he said.
He also said that the operation received a good response from traders, and stated that it was ready to be confiscated if it was still selling firecrackers freely to the public.
Masrokan explained the reason for the ban on selling firecrackers was due to its bad impact on the community, as well as preventing explosions that could endanger people such as incidents in other areas.
"Do not buy and sell firecrackers that cause the impact or impact caused, because there are examples in Indramayu and East Java due to firecracker explosions of human and material victims," he said.
He added another reason because the presence of firecrackers can disrupt people's activities if firecrackers are sounded around mosques or densely populated housing.
"If the firecrackers are sounded impromptuly on the road, then road users will be disturbed and result in criminal acts," he said.
