KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Closes 4 Illegal Train Crossings Due To Accident Prone
PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta said it had closed a number of illegal train crossings (KA) in Jakarta because they were considered prone to traffic accidents.
Illegal crossings do not have official crossing gate so traffic accidents often occur.
Based on data from PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, throughout 2022, 55 illegal crossing points prone to accidents have been closed in the Daop 1 Jakarta area.
"Meanwhile, from the beginning of 2023 to March, 4 illegal crossings have also been closed," said Head of Public Relations of PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Eva Chairunisa when confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, March 22.
The closure of illegal crossings carried out by Daop 1 Jakarta, said Eva, is a form of KAI's support for the implementation of Law 23 of 2007 concerning Railways including Article 91 Paragraph (1): "The intersection between the railway line and the road is not made in the same field".
Furthermore, Article 94 Paragraph (1) : "For the safety of train travel and road users, a level crossing that does not have a permit must be closed". Article 94 Paragraph (2) : "The closure of a level crossing as referred to in paragraph (1) is carried out by the government or the local government". Article 124 : "At a level intersection (crossing) between the train track and the road, road users are obliged to prioritize train travel".
"Another effort made by KAI Daop 1 Jakarta is to prevent accidents from being crossed, namely by socializing to the public to obey the rules," he said.
In addition, Daop 1 Jakarta also collaborated with Railfans (train lovers) together to conduct safety socialization at the Daop 1 Jakarta crossing.
"The Jakarta Daop 1 team continues to actively conduct safety socialization to community members who are in the vicinity of railroad crossings/paths as well as education to students/students at schools close to the rail line," he said.
