Happy Nyepi Day, Jokowi: May Happiness And Peace Always Fall

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) congratulated Nyepi Day 2023 and hoped that happiness and peace would always cover the Indonesian nation.

"In silence and silence, we surrender. May happiness and peace always cover," said President Jokowi in an upload on the official Instagram account @jokowi quoted from Antara, Wednesday, March 22.

In the upload, the President included an image describing the atmosphere of Nyepi celebrations and the writing Happy Nyepi Day Saka New Year 1945.

Previously, Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said that Nyepi celebrations were a momentum for contemplation and self-introspection regarding the lifestyles that had been carried out in previous years.

"This holy day hints at the origin of the Sarira and self-control. This indicates that we are reminded by the rulers of the universe to always keep behavior under control according to the teachings of their respective religions," said Minister of Religion Yaqut, Tuesday, March 21.

Hindus throughout Indonesia today carry out the Tawur Agung Kesanga ritual in order to welcome Saka New Year 1945, which this year coincides with March 22, 2023. The Tawur Agung Kesanga Nasional 2023 ritual takes place in the courtyard of Prambanan Temple, Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY).

The Tawur Agung Kesanga Nasional 2023 ritual begins with the reading of the Weda Holy Book, prayers, and ends with the performance of the Sendratari Singer Yadnya Pamutering Giri Mandara dance drama.

Furthermore, Hindus will carry out Catur Brata Penyepian. During Nyepi Holy Day, the entire routine of life was stopped by performing Amati Geni (not starting a fire), Amati Karya (not working), Amati Lelungan (not traveling), and Amati Lelanguan (not enjoying entertainment/ fun).

Through Catur Brata Penyepian, Minister of Religion Yaqut hopes that Hindus can continue to improve their quality in human relations with God, fellow children of the nation, and with the environment.

"This is an effort so that we can become Indonesian people with integrity, hard work, and have a spirit of mutual cooperation," he said.
