DPR Encourages The Implementation Of The Independent Learning Program To Be Expanded

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly Lestari Moerdijat assessed that it was necessary to immediately expand and improve the ability of teachers to use digital platforms to accelerate the implementation of Freedom of Learning.

"The stage of applying the Merdeka Learning program launched by the government is one of the important steps for implementing the national education system in an effort to improve the teaching and learning process in the country," Lestari said as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, March 19.

He said this was related to the steps taken by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) which appointed 202 selected teachers as Technological Ambassadors and Learning Captains.

The Ministry of Education and Culture's move aims to inspire educators and students in realizing Freedom of Learning through various use of technology platforms.

Based on data from the Directorate General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education, and Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture, in the odd semester of the 2022/2023 Academic Year (TA) there are 3.3 million teachers throughout Indonesia.

Lestari assessed that the millions of teachers who are the target of planting new learning patterns by utilizing technology platforms, need more technology ambassadors to inspire them.

"In order for efforts to spread and increase the use of technology platforms in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in 34 provinces to take place properly, strong collaboration is needed from stakeholders at the central and regional levels," he said.

He hopes that efforts to accelerate the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum are carefully and well prepared, so that the expansion of the use of digital platforms can be carried out in the country.

According to him, until now, the Ministry of Education and Culture has introduced the Learning House platform, namely learning content platforms for elementary, junior high and high school students.

"In addition, there is also the Merdeka Teaching (PMM) platform, namely an educational platform to become a teacher driving friend in teaching, learning and work, in implementing the Independent Curriculum," he said.

In addition, according to him, there is also a Education Report platform (PRP) based on data that presents the results of national assessments and other data regarding the achievement of education unit learning results into an integrated display.

He assessed that the use of a number of these platforms requires good understanding and skills from students and teachers. Therefore, according to Lestari, systematic and measurable efforts are needed to accelerate the expansion of the abilities of students and educators in the country.
