The Ministry Of Industry Leaks How IKM Enters The Supply Chain Of Electric Vehicles
The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) said that no small and medium industries (IKM) have entered the manufacturing chain of electric motorized vehicles, both two and four wheels in Indonesia, to date.
The Director General of IKM and Aneka of the Ministry of Industry, Reni Yanita, said that it took enough time while the relevant manufacturers began to increase the manufacturing activities of their electric motorized vehicles.
"Nothing (IKM is involved in the supply chain of electric vehicles). We are still trying electric bicycles first," he told reporters in Jakarta, Friday, March 17.
Reni assessed that if IKM wants to enter the electric vehicle industry, the first thing that must be done is to be involved in the workshop sector.
Because, according to him, if IKM is able to repair electric vehicles, the public or consumer confidence to buy these types of vehicles will automatically be high.
"We departed from the workshop first, when the workshop was ready to repair electric vehicles, public or consumer confidence automatically went to buy," he said.
"How to grow the services of repair workshops for electric vehicles is important," added Reni.
Related to this, said Reni, his party continues to encourage IKM to enter the supply chain in large companies to increase industrial competitiveness and release dependence on certain countries that have been suppliers.
Based on the data they have, in recent years, there have been an additional 100 IKMs that enter the supply chain of large companies every year.
"There are many textile industries, including dolls like Mattel's. It's also like that, then it can be expanded to other sectors, such as hotels or restaurants," he said.
