Not Wanting To Work On And Sing Religious Songs, Fiersa Besari: Not Confident

JAKARTA - Fiersa Besari has been active in the Indonesian music industry for more than ten years. From this trip, Fiersa has never released a religious song.

Not without reason, the singer of the song Runtuh said that he was not ready to perform religious songs. The reason is, he considered himself not good enough to sing songs that carry religious themes.

"If the religious song in question is songs that carry the theme of religion, I'm not that big," said Fiersa Besari when met in Gambir, Central Jakarta some time ago.

"I'm still a lot weak from my own religion. So I'm afraid that one day I'm weak in faith, that song, the lyrics are my weapon," he continued.

But that doesn't mean Fiersa doesn't like religious music. He said that he still hears religious songs from many Indonesian musicians. For now, Fiersa chooses to be just a listener.

So, I enjoyed more songs from other friends, which I could absorb. Still a listener of spiritual songs, but haven't created them yet," he said.

Fiersa has her own argument regarding what she said. For him, a musician or singer cannot be separated from his works.

In my opinion, even though abroad, he said, when an artist creates a problem, we must be able to separate art from the artist. But for me as an ordinary human being, it is difficult to do. When there is a work of art and the artist does not reflect his artwork, we must have a tendency in ourselves that is 'how come it's not the same'," he said.

At the end of his argument, Fiersa stated that for him personally, the creator and singer of religious songs have at least religious knowledge.

"This is personal, yes, I don't speak on behalf of everyone. But, for me when someone has created or sang songs whose theme is religious, yes, religious knowledge must at least exist. I still can't," he concluded.
