The Staff Of The Minister Of SOEs Expressed The Reason KCI Did Not Order Trains To INKA

JAKARTA - Special Staff to the Minister of SOEs Arya Sinulingga opened his voice regarding the reason why PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) has not ordered trains from PT Industri Kereta Api or PT INKA (Persero) for a long time.

Arya revealed that KCI actually had plans to order a train from INKA, but was hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic which was unknown when it would end.

"Actually, he already had a planned number of years earlier, in 2020 he had a plan only in 2020 he didn't dare to go to INKA because of Corona," Arya told the media quoted on Thursday, March 16.

In addition, he continued, train passengers in 2020 also experienced a drastic decline due to the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) throughout Indonesia.

With the decrease in passengers, it also has an impact on decreasing company income so that it is not possible to order new train units to INKA.

"Don't passengers limit it during corona? It's low. Is there money? Yes, there's no money. 2021, it's a loss, who dares to call a train?" Arya continued.

Arya also handed over the entire process to the regulator and the Ministry of Industry and the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment which captured the procurement of trains.

"It's up to the regulator, we BUMN are getting ready," added Arya.

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is known to be still waiting for the results of the audit by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) regarding PT INKA's ability, especially in producing trains.

Previously, PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) revealed that PT Industri Kereta Api (Persero) or INKA had not been able to supply Electric Rail Train (KRL) or Commuter Line.

The reason is, it will take approximately three years to produce.
