Police Open Opportunity For 6th Suspect In Tractor Theft Case In NTT
NTT - Police open up opportunities for new natural suspects in cases of theft of tractors and power machines in West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
"Now the team has arrested five thieves, in the near future there will be a new suspect who is serving as a collector," said West Manggarai Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Ridwan confirmed from Kupang, Thursday.
This was conveyed when he was confirmed about the theft of tractors and rice stocking machines that disturbed farmers in Macang Tanggar Village, Komodo District, West Manggarai Regency.
He said that the investigative team had pocketed the names of the collectors who received the stolen goods from five suspects who had now been detained at the West Manggarai Police Headquarters.
He said that if he had been caught and named a suspect, the custodian would be charged under Article 480 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 4 years in prison for being involved in criminal acts of evil help or custodians.
"But if the examination is proven to be carried out often, then the penalty will increase, for example, from the original four years to five or six years," he said.
Therefore, he appealed to West Manggarai residents not to become collectors of stolen goods or to sell them at low prices.
"Moreover, the goods are not equipped with documents or guarantees, receipts, certificates and other equipment," he said.
Previously, police officers at the West Manggarai Police arrested four suspected perpetrators of theft of tractor machines and rice stocking in the area.
The four are VD (29) alias Ito, KB (20) alias Kani, AN (30) alias Awan, and PL (17) alias Primus was arrested on Thursday last week. A few days later on Sunday (12/3) based on the results of police development, they again arrested one more suspect.
From the results of the examination of the four perpetrators of the theft who acted in 23 different places in the West Manggarai and East Manggarai areas which then disturbed rice farmers in the area.
