Unable To Pay Overstay Fees, Indian Citizens Surrender To Ask For Deportation
JAKARTA - An Indian citizen with the initials SK was deported by the Class 1 Immigration Office Non TPI Central Jakarta to his home country because he did not have a valid residence permit. The deportation was carried out as a form of supervision.
"The foreigner deliberately turned himself in to the Central Jakarta Immigration office because he could not pay the cost of the overstay burden," said Head of the Immigration Office, Wahyu Hidayat, Tuesday, March 14.
From the existing documents, it turned out that the foreigner used a residence permit but the validity period had expired.
"The foreigner has been overstaying for more than 60 days," he said.
Perpetrators are given immigration administrative action in accordance with Law no. 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration Article 78 paragraph (3) in the form of Deportation and Anticipation.
The Indian citizen was deported through Terminal 2 of Soetta Airport to New Delhi (India).
"People are asked to report to the Immigration Office if they find foreigners living in their areas suspicious," he said.
