17 New Names Filled In The Second Phase Of The U-22 Indonesian National Team Training Center
JAKARTA PSSI again summoned 17 new players to take part in the second phase of the Indonesia U-22 national team training camp to prepare for the 2023 SEA Games.
Previously, the first phase of the training camp had been going on from March 1 to 8. A total of 17 players from 34 names who were called were confirmed to survive to follow the second stage.
"We return it to players' clubs that are not selected or those that do not follow up. Then what we consider is the quality to continue to participate in the training camp," said the U-22 Indonesian national team coach, Indra Sjafri, as reported by the PSSI website.
Indra will again lead the second phase of the training camp which will take place tomorrow, Thursday, March 9 to March 16, 2023. The addition of 17 new names has left a total of 34 participating players.
The 60-year-old tactician said later he and the coaching team would look at the abilities of the defenders and new players who were called up with three trials, physical tests, psychology, IQ tests, and several other tests.
"Because the quality of our current players is almost more than half. That's what we expected," he said.
The 2023 SEA Games will take place in Cambodia 5-17 May. In the 2021 SEA Games edition, Indonesia won a bronze medal after the match beat Malaysia in the match for third place.
