Nissan Recalls Hundreds Of Thousands Of Cars, Including The Nissan Leaf. Indonesia Is Safe?
JAKARTA - A massive safety campaign is being carried out by Nissan by recalling more than 500 thousand cars from the Serena and X-Trail models. Not only that, their flagship electric car Nissan Leaf is also included in the recall program.
In Serena and X-Trail, a mass recall was carried out after it was found that there was damage to the Idling Stop system. The recalled cars were produced from 2010 to 2017.
The recall process on the Nissan Leaf was carried out for 60 thousand production units in 2017-2023. Specifically for the Leaf, the problem lies with the driver's manual, which can provide false instructions on how to operate the Defroster.
Defrosters are a system designed to heat windows or windshields of vehicles with the aim of eliminating moisture. If following these manual instructions, it can cause a decline in defroster performance. Because when the fan is set at high speed it will result in the heater entering the fail-safe mode and limited defroster output.
However, PT Nissan Motor Distributor Indonesia (NMDI) as the official distributor for Nissan vehicles in Indonesia, stated that the mass recall that occurred in Serena, X-Trail and Leaf did not occur in Indonesia.
"We continue to maintain the commitment and trust given by consumers by always providing the best service and products, so that if there are problems with Nissan products needed for a recall, of course we will make an official announcement." said Head of PT Nissan Motor Distributor Indonesia, Tan Kim Piauw in his official statement, Wednesday, March 8.
