JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin discussed economic cooperation to protect Indonesian citizens (WNI) with Kyoto Governor Nishiwaki Takatoshi. The discussion was held at Kyoto Guest House, Kyoto, Japan, Wednesday, March 8.

The Vice President initially stated that the closeness of Indonesia-Japan was reflected in the many cooperations carried out between the two countries, one of which was the active cooperation between the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) and Kyoto Prefecture since 1985.

"The collaboration between Sister Province Yogyakarta and Kyoto has gone well through cultural and educational exchanges," said the Vice President in Kyoto, Japan, Wednesday, March 8, as reported by Antara.

The Vice President said that through the exchange, many people in the two countries had experienced cross-border.

"Indonesia is ready to become the main partner in the development of the halal business in Kyoto," he said.

The development of this halal business, explained the Vice President, can be done, including through cooperation in halal certification for Japanese products, such as food, drinks, and medicines.

He hopes that strengthening economic cooperation can be continued in other business sectors.

"I hope this cooperation can continue to be strengthened with other potential sectors, such as trade in superior commodities, agriculture or food security," said the Vice President.

Second, regarding the protection of Indonesian citizens, the Vice President appreciated the commitment of the Kyoto Prefectural Government which has provided services to ensure the protection of Indonesian citizens in Kyoto.

"I hope the Kyoto Prefectural Government can continue to support the efforts of the Indonesian Government in providing optimal and excellent protection and services to Indonesian citizens abroad," concluded the Vice President.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Kyoto Nishiwaki Takatoshi at the meeting congratulated Indonesia on Indonesia's success in the chairmanship of the G20 in 2022.

"I feel that Indonesia has succeeded in becoming the Chair of the G20," said Nishiwaki.

He hopes that President Jokowi's meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida who discusses Asia Zero Emission can be carried out and realized.

"Once again I thank you for the chairmanship of Indonesia. Welcoming the relationship for 50 years we are very happy," he said.

At the end of the meeting, the two figures exchanged souvenirs where Vice President Ma'ruf Amin obtained a Kyoto folding fan from the Governor of Kyoto, while Governor Kyoto Nishiwaki obtained the Borobudur Temple placard within the frame of the Vice President.
