Makes Proud, Audrey-Afif's Debut Earns Second Gold in the 2023 Asia Rifle/Pistol Cup
JAKARTA - The debut of Audrey Zahra Dhiyaanisa and Afif Izzuddin as a pair resulted in a second gold medal for Indonesia as host of the 2023 Asia Rifle/Pistol Cup.
Competing in the Mixed Team 10-meter Air Rifle at the Senayan Shooting Range, Jakarta, Audrey/Afif won the best after defeating South Korean representatives Yang Hwa Gyeong and Choo Byounggil in the final with a score of 17-9.
This victory, said Audrey, was special because she had just been paired with Afif. In addition, it is also the best achievement for both of them in the international arena.
"Proud because it was the first time we were paired. It was only this time that we were paired and were able to donate a gold medal for Indonesia. This is also our first gold in an international event," Audrey said after the competition as quoted by Antara, Sunday, March 5.
Audrey said that this victory could not be separated from the evaluation results when she appeared in the 2023 Rifle/Pistol World Cup or ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol which also took place at the Senayan Shooting Range from 27 January to 7 February 2023.
At that time, Audrey contributed two bronze in the Women's Team 10 meter Air Rifle with Khairunnisa Salsabela and Masayyu Putri, as well as the Women's Team Position 50m Rifle 3 with Vidya Rafika Rahmatan Toyyiba and Diaz Kusumawardani
"I learned from before and corrected what was lacking. Strengthened my mentality and preparedness as well. I am grateful to be paired with Afif. Thanks also to coach Ali and all the Perbakin team," said Audrey.
The joint bronze in the 10m Mixed Team Air Rifle belonged to representatives of the Philippines Amparo Teresa Acuna and Jayson Valdez of the Philippines who won over the Malaysian pair Alia Husna Budruddin and Haritz Iklil Hessly Hafiz with a score of 16-6.
Also, Kuwaiti representative Maryam Arzouqi/Ali Al Mutairi who won over Maldives representative Sharafiyya Abdul Rahman/Ibrahim Shifan with 17-9.
With the addition of gold from Audrey/Afif, Indonesia is temporarily at the top of the medal standings with two golds.
Previously, Fathur Gustafian opened the gold medal faucet for hosting the 2023 Asia Rifle/Pistol Cup by becoming the best in the Men's 10-meter Air Rifle.
The second position is occupied by Singapore with one gold. Then South Korea is in third place with three bronze. Kuwait, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam share the fourth spot with one bronze.
