Accused Of Unindependent, IPW Prepares Facts Of Alleged Criminalization Of Helmut Hermawan
JAKARTA - The attorney for PT Citra Lampia Mandiri (CLM) Dion Pongkor questioned the attitude of the Chairman of Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) Sugeng Teguh Santoso in the Helmut Hermawan case.
Responding to this, Sugeng emphasized that when he received a complaint regarding the Helmut Hermawan case, IPW studied all the facts and documents and all the information. IPW also saw that there was one oligarchic force suspected of committing Helmut Hermawan.
"That is, starting from the alleged police action which is massively suspected of intimidating, the attitude of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Directorate General of AHU which ratifies the articles of association of the new shareholder of PT CLM, namely Zainal Abidin Siregar," Sugeng told his statement, Friday, March 3.
"IPW also has evidence of the alleged corruption of a major official at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, who is suspected of being the background for the ratification of legal entities and legalizing the new shareholder of Zainal Abidin Siregar," he said.
For this reason, his party will also report all the evidence that IPW has to the KPK.
"If IPW does not speak up, Helmut Hermawan's legal resistance will sink. IPW will continue to deliver its critical voice, then when IPW is said to be not independent, it must be remembered that those who must take independent action enforce the law fairly and do not abuse it are state institutions, in this case the South Sulawesi Regional Police, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and other related parties," he said.
Furthermore, Sugeng said that criminalization efforts also seemed to be attacked and launched to IPW. So that his party insists that they will not be afraid to face this.
"This is a risk for civil society to voice the truth, IPW understands the great oligarchy power behind the shareholder group, IPW has evidence of money transfer photos as well as communications from government officials supporting new shareholders," he said.
Not to forget, Sugeng also submitted a request for public support to IPW to uphold justice and continue to oversee the Helmut case, because only the power of society can defeat the criminalization of the apparatus.
Meanwhile, Trisakti University criminal law expert, Abdul Fickar Hadjar, said that the independence of an NGO cannot be judged directly from a statement alone.
"Yes, officials (South Sulawesi Police) still cannot distinguish between cases handled with public opinion (public opinion) or discourse," he said.
"Except for the request for the summons to be heard, the statement is in the context of expert statements," he said.
