Real Madrid 0-1 Barcelona In The First Leg Of The Copa Del Rey Semifinals, Carlo Ancelotti: They Have No Intention Of Playing Football
JAKARTA - Barcelona managed to steal profits when they traveled to Real Madrid in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinal, Friday, March 3. In the match which took place at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Blaugrana narrowly won 1-0 over Los Blancos.
Barcelona won thanks to Eder Militao's suicide in the first half. With this result, Barcelona got a draw in the second leg to qualify for the next round.
The second leg will be held at home to Barcelona, Spotify Camp Nou on April 6, 2023.
In this match, Real Madrid did not once record an on target experiment from the 11 opportunities they created. In fact, there is one chance where Luka Modric has already faced goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Unfortunately, his shot still hit the net next to the net.
The home team actually managed to score a goal in the 11th minute. The short passes ended in Vinicius' leg on the left before sending a hull pass to Karim Benzema at the far post.
The French striker controlled the ball with his chest before releasing a volley that Ter Stegen failed to stop. However, the goal was disallowed because Benzema was already in an offside position.
Barcelona took the lead in the 26th minute thanks to Eder Militao's own goal. Camavinga made a mistake and the ball was won by Barcelona players before being awarded to Franck Kessie who stabbed into the penalty box.
The Ivory Coast midfielder then fired a shot that hit Militao before entering goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
After that, Barcelona defended well and made it difficult for Real Madrid to get meaningful opportunities. The visitors managed to keep their narrow advantage over their eternal rivals until the game ended.
At the end of the match, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti sneered at his opponent's game. He considered, Barcelona seemed to have no intention of playing football because it lasted too much.
"The team played well. Barcelona played like they didn't want to play. The defeat was painful, but if we did the same in the second leg, we had a chance to qualify," Ancelotti said, as reported by Live Score.
"We played the game we had to play: pressing, playing with intensity. We lacked goals, but they didn't do anything to score. They were lucky with an own goal. We had 90 minutes (to reverse it)," he continued.
The Italian admits his team failed. However, according to him, Real Madrid did not deserve to lose to Barcelona in this match.
"However, in 90 minutes we were able to score goals at Barcelona," said Ancelotti confidently.
