Railink Withdraws, Soekarno-Hatta Airport Train Will Be Managed By KCI
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) stated that PT Railink will leave as the manager of the Soekarno-Hatta airport train (KA Bandara). The management of this airport train will be carried out by PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI).
Director General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation Risal Wasal confirmed this. He said, there had been a decision from the two companies to change operators.
"From the KAI operator, they want to hand over some of the Airport Train (management) to KCI, which in Jakarta has been handed over to KCI, to manage the airport train," he said, when met at the Ministry of Transportation, Jakarta, Thursday, March 2.
However, Risal has not detailed the details of the airport train management scheme by KCI. Even so, Risal said that later PT Railink would only take care of several airport trains in other areas.
"Railink doesn't play in Jakarta anymore," he said.
In fact, continued Risal, with the start of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Train management, there is a possibility that KAI will also hand over other airport train management to KCI.
However, Risal has not explained in detail. One thing he has confirmed is regarding the efficiency of airport train management in Indonesia.
For your information, currently airport trains in Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Medan are still managed by PT Railink.
"From the KAI operator, they want to hand over some of the Airport Train to KCI, which in Jakarta is handed over to KCI, in Jogja it is also handed over. They are also service efficiency," he explained.
When asked about the handover of management, Risal handed it over to the company. He said the decision to inaugurate the transfer of management meant his authority was at PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero).
"The company (which was handed over)," he said.
