Minister Of Energy And Forestry Asks Local Governments To Consider Central Disaster Data For Synchronization Of Management Policies

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy asked local governments (Pemda) to consider centralized disaster data in coordination with the Coordinating Ministry for PMK and the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

"Each region will have centralized and coordinated data with BNPB and the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, so that policy synchronization can be strengthened and adjusted to its needs in each region," he said at the Opening of the 2023 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) in Jakarta, Thursday, March 2, which was confiscated by Antara.

Muhadjir also invited each regional government to continue to strengthen mitigation efforts or reduce disaster risk.

"This is in accordance with President Joko Widodo's direction regarding the importance of disaster management and disaster management in the early stages," he added.

Muhadjir added that President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) message regarding strengthening the early warning system, public education, spatial problems, and also related to earthquake-resistant construction must be a common concern.

"This must be a common concern, especially for areas that are prone to disasters," he said.

Meanwhile, Jokowi asked the local government to include disaster risk into the development plan so that it is clear that disaster-prone locations should not be targeted for investment.

The area must include disaster risk in its development plan, in its investment plan. There is a plan," Jokowi said on the same occasion.

With the inclusion of disaster risk into the development plan, said Jokowi, there is clear information on whether or not the location is allowed to be the target of development.
