Ministry Of PUPR: IKN Nusantara Is A Real ToD Development Form

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Housing said that the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago is a form of transit-oriented development or Transit Oriented Development (TOD) actually facilitates community mobility from occupancy to workplace.

"If someone says that IKN is the real TOD, then it is true. We have to build this and make it happen in a direction," said Iwan Suprijanto, Director General of Housing at the TOD seminar, in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, March 2.

Iwan also added that one of the key performance indicators (KPI) of IKN development is that people can walk 10 minutes from their homes to office areas and the public.

"The trick is to organize the IKN space itself with the orientation of the TOD concept," he said again.

According to Iwan, IKN is a solution because the transfer of IKN to East Kalimantan must begin with the construction of a new concept, so that problems do not occur in the future.

This is so that the concept of IKN development can accommodate the TOD concept.

Previously, property consultant Knight Frank Indonesia revealed that an integrated vertical residential development project at IKN Nusantara could be a directive to build an integrated city (compact city) for other regions in Indonesia.

Knight Senior Research Advisor Frank Indonesia Syarifah Syaukat said the ultimate goal of integrated city development is the efficiency of the city so that mobility can be controlled, where spaces are integrated between settlement functions and commercial and supporting functions.

The concept of housing development in IKN follows the plan of a spatial function which includes mixed-used and heterogeneity areas of demographics at IKN Nusantara. The mixed function area refers to the creation of various activities and functions in one building environment.

The heterogeneity of demographics refers to the creation of population mixing based on characteristics, such as age, occupation, income, ethnicity, and race.
