Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini asked that the perpetrators of sexual abuse against his own cousin in Ende, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), be given a maximum sentence.
This was conveyed during Social Minister Risma's working visit to Ende.
"Earlier, I communicated with the Chief of Police and Pak Kajari how the punishment was maximized, because it was clear that the person concerned had a relationship (family)," said the Minister of Social Affairs in a written statement, Thursday, March 2, which was confiscated by Antara.
The perpetrator with the initials NA is a cousin who lives with the victim and other family members.
Law Number 17 of 2016 in conjunction with Law Number 35 of 2014 in conjunction with Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection states that perpetrators of sexual violence against children can be sentenced to a maximum of 15 years.
However, if the act is carried out by parents, guardians, people who have family relations, caregivers, educators, education staff, officers who handle child protection, or are carried out by more than one person together, the sentence is added by a third.
On that occasion, Social Minister Risma also promised to carry out social rehabilitation of victims of sexual abuse against her own cousin.
"I conveyed to the person concerned, I offered to stay at the hall in Kupang, there he is not only a school but we teach him for his future. The person concerned wants to," he said.
The Minister of Social Affairs explained that there are many children with similar cases who are undergoing social rehabilitation at the Efata Kupang Center.
In addition to psychological recovery, NA will get education facilitation and child interest development in Sentra Efata.
