Collision Of A Boat In A Ketinting Racing In Bulungan, Kaltara Killing One Person
JAKARTA - One participant in the ketinting competition died after being involved in a collision with another participant at a ketinting racing championship in Sekatak District, Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan, Sunday.
"The reason was because they collided with other participants during the competition on the Sekatak River," said Bulungan Police Chief Kombes Pol Agus Nugraha in Tanjung Selor as quoted by Antara, Sunday.
The death toll on behalf of Khairul Anam is 33 years old, a resident of Tanjung Palas District, Bulungan Regency.
Another victim involved in a collision with Khairul Anam was Afendy Roy Saputra, a resident of Hilir Wing, Tana Tidung Regency, North Kalimantan.
Afendy Roy Saputra is still in intensive medical care at the Sekatak Health Center. Khairul Anam's body was dispatched to the funeral home.
"The Puskesmas treatment stated that Khoirul's brother had died," he said.
Several eyewitnesses at the scene have been questioned to find out the chronology of the exact accident.
In addition, the police will also dig up information from the competition committee on Monday (27/2).
The ketinting championship was held in commemoration of the birthday of the local village, Sekatak Buji Village, Sekatak District. The championship is confirmed to have obtained a crowd permit from the police.
"For the competition, it was temporarily suspended due to the atmosphere of grief. The police have secured the ketinting and the competition participant machines involved in the accident," he said.
