Sexual Harassment In Transjakarta OCCURs AGAIN, Victims Are UnderAGE

JAKARTA - Sexual harassment of female Transjakarta bus passengers has occurred again in the series of buses on the Non BRT route Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang via Cikini, Saturday, February 25.

The perpetrator was successfully secured by Transjakarta security officers and handed over to the Central Jakarta Metro Police.

Head of the Transjakarta Corporate Secretary Division, Apriastini Bakti Bugiansri, confirmed the incident of harassment of the passenger.

According to him, the incident occurred when the victim was sitting on the bus.

Suddenly the victim felt abused by a man sitting next to her.

"The victim immediately reported to the congregation for what happened to him. Pramusapa swiftly arrested the perpetrators of harassment and handed over the perpetrators to the Central Jakarta Metro Police for legal proceedings," said Apri, Sunday, February 26.

Apri said the victim was known to be a minor. So the victim needs assistance from the parents and family when reporting to the police.

Along with the rise of incidents of harassment, Transjakarta continues to improve services and security for passengers.

"This alertness is what we prioritize to deal with crimes of sexual harassment in public transportation. We urge customers to have the courage to speak up and take a reporting attitude if they experience acts of sexual harassment," he said.

As is known, incidents of sexual harassment of female passengers continue to occur in Transjakarta.

In fact, previously, transportation observer Azas Tigor Nainggolan criticized cases of sexual violence against female passengers that continue to occur in Transjakarta repeatedly.

According to Azas, there should be a firm attitude and step from Transjakarta management to perpetrators of sexual violence.

"The rise of cases of sexual harassment against Transjakarta passengers by other passengers should encourage Transjakarta management to take firm action against every perpetrator of sexual harassment at Transjakarta services," Azas told VOI, Wednesday, February 22.
