KPU Take ADVANTAGE Of Information Technology And Optimize Social Media For Gen Z And Millennial Voters Nets

JAKARTA - Member of the General Election Commission (KPU) August Mellaz said his agency utilizes information technology and optimizes social media to provide information needed by generation Z and millennials regarding the 2024 General Election.

The information needed by these voters includes, among others, the election participants, both the DPR, DPD, DPRD, as well as the president and vice president; then the vision, mission and program carried out by the election participants.

"Also various information related to the processes and procedures needed by voters. For example, for registration and how to register as voters, how to choose and others," he said, quoted from Antara, Saturday, February 25.

Referring to survey data, one of which is from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the 2024 General Election will be dominated by Generation Z and millennials whose age range is 17-39 years approaching 60 percent.

According to August, basically, these groups have strong attention to the quality of life and the future of Indonesia, including related to the sustainability of welfare, employment opportunities, renewable technology, and the environment and so on.

The 2024 election, he continued, is an important momentum so that strategic issues that have been the focus and attention of the levels of voters are voiced as programs and policies of election participants.

"Thus came a mutual understanding among voters that voters' interest in strategic issues met with an important understanding of elections," August said.

He then hopes that young voters can contribute to realizing peaceful and healthy elections, away from hoaxes, disinformation, and politicization of identity.

Referring to the KPU's official website, the determination of the election participants has been taking place from December 14, 2022 to February 14, 2023. Furthermore, the nomination period for DPR members, provincial DPRDs and district/city DPRDs will take place on April 24, 2023 - November 25, 2023. Meanwhile, the nomination period for the President and Vice President is scheduled for October 19, 2023 to November 25, 2023.

Next, on 28 November 2023 to 10 February 2024 is the campaign period and 14 February 2024 to 15 February 2024 is the time for voting and vote count.
