"People don't need to panic, the current rice stock at BULOG Bali is safe and sufficient to meet their needs before fasting, Nyepi Day and Eid al-Fitr," said the Supply Chain Manager and Public Service (SCPP) Perum Bulog Bali Regional Office Kurnia Rahmawati as quoted by Antara, Friday, February 24.
Kurnia said, there are 3,000 tons of rice stored in seven warehouses in seven districts of Bali Province, where the stock is said to be sufficient even for the next 3 months.
The warehouses for BULOG Bali rice stocks are in Gianyar, Klungkung, Badung, Tabanan, Bangli, Buleleng, and Jembrana regencies, while the people of Denpasar, the rice supply comes from Badung warehouses, and Karangasem comes from the warehouses Bangli, Klungkung, and Singaraja.
"The available rice stock is safe for the needs for the next 3 months. Fasting, Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr which fall in March-April along with the rice harvest period in Bali, so it is estimated that stock availability in the community is very available," he said.
For now, said Kurnia, the price of premium rice is IDR 57,000 per 5 kilograms, and the price of rice stabilization for Supply and Food Prices (SPHP) to take in the warehouse is IDR 41,500 per 5 kilograms.
Even though the rice stock was declared under control, Kurnia admitted that before religious holidays in Bali, prices would tend to increase.
The reason is due to increased market demand, especially for strategic food commodities such as rice, cooking oil, and sugar.
However, his party can intervene in prices for controlled commodities, namely rice, cooking oil, and sugar, with prices sold to the public referring to the Highest Retail Price (HET) set by the government.
In addition to rice commodities, Kurnia also said that the stock of cooking oil and sugar is also available to the Balinese people.
"The stock of cooking oil 70,000 Liter and sugar 20 tons, is very safe for fasting needs, Nyepi Day and Eid al-Fitr," he said.
For the price, currently, the Kunci Mas cooking oil is located at IDR 17,000 while the oilquake brand is IDR 12,600 but is focused on controlling prices so that they are distributed in the market.
"To continue to maintain supply availability and price stabilization, BULOG has also collaborated with the Bali Province, Denpasar City, Tabanan Regency, Jembrana Regency, Buleleng Regency and PD Pasar Buleleng in stabilizing food supply and prices," concluded Kurnia.
