WhatsApp Develops Personal Newslette Features, What's That?
JAKARTA - WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new one-to-many broadcast tool to disseminate information, called Newslette.
According to the Wabetainfo report, a code has been discovered in the beta version of 2,23.5.3 WhatsApp Messenger for Android, containing references to a new Newslette feature currently under development.
Newslette is the code name for the upcoming WhatsApp tool that functions to broadcast information to large numbers of people who are not specified.
If this feature officially launches, it looks like users will receive information from the local government, favorite sports teams, brands, and more, although the phone number is not in the contact book.
However, Newsulter is different from regular chats, users cannot reply to broadcast messages. Furthermore, Newslettes shared over the platform will not have end-to-end (EE2E) encryption.
Since this will be one-way communication, the absence of EE2E should not pose any security risks. WhatsApp is building a Newslette feature taking privacy into account.
So, users' numbers will remain hidden and disguised when they create or subscribe to a Newsletter to prevent identities from being revealed.
Other users are also unable to see what Newsletterer is following, and vice versa. An optional Newsletter feature will appear in the WhatsApp Status tab, and become a private space, so users can control what they see here.
Launching The Verge, Thursday, February 23, hidden codes on WhatsApp show Newsulter will not use algorithm-based recommendations or ads. Instead, users should view the content they selected in chronological order.
For your information, the Newslette feature is still in its early development stage at this time, and may take some time before the feature is rolled out to the public.
