All England 2023 Draw: Four Indonesian Representatives Directly Clashed

JAKARTA The draw results for the All England 2023 championship have been released by the international badminton parent (BWF). Four Indonesian representatives must face each other in the first round.

The most prestigious championship will take place from March 14 to 19 in Birmingham, England. Indonesia has sent a total of 16 representatives to the competition leveled Super 1000 BWF.

Of that total, the men's doubles number dominated by sending as many as six representatives. Following that in second place were men's singles and mixed doubles who each sent four representatives.

Meanwhile, singles and women's doubles are sectors with the fewest representatives. Both numbers sent only one representative.

In the women's singles sector, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung is the mainstay and the pair who won the 2021 SEA Games gold medal Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti are representatives in women's doubles.

Despite sending many representatives, Indonesia has certainly had to lose two of them in the first round. That's because the draw put four representatives of whom immediately clashed with each other in the early stages.

The clashes of the four representatives occurred in the men's doubles and mixed doubles numbers. The men's doubles who immediately faced each other were veterans Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan and Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Rambitan.

Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles number, who immediately fought each other to beat each other, was Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti against Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.

In addition to the early meeting in the first round, several Indonesian representatives also seem to have to be ready to face tough challenges if they qualify from the first phase. One of them is the men's singles of Shesar Hiren Rhustavito.

Shesar will start the journey against Malaysia's singles Ng Tze Yong. If he wins then most likely he will have to face off against world number one and world number one Viktor Axelsen.

Gregoria Mariska Tunjung will most likely find almost the same fate. He has a chance to meet Thailand's eighth seed Ratchanok Intanon if he is able to overcome the Hojmark Kjaersfeldt Line in the first round.
