Once's Story About Recording Process With Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal In Song Kau And Me
JAKARTA - In a press conference launching the Sigma album at KFC Kemang, Jakarta, Tuesday, Once Mekel conveyed the process behind composing the song Kau and Aku with former Guns N 'Roses guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal.
Once said the process began with his introduction to Ron when he appeared in Jakarta.
"Yes, I'm actually a friend of Ron's for a long time. Yes, it's been about 6 years. So at that time he came to Jakarta when he was showing, I came there to watch his show. After the concert, I immediately met him, and until now I have met him many times too," said Once.
Over time, Once took Bumblefoot to his private studio with a fairly simple process.
"We just made an appointment in my studio, he came around 5 pm, after that, I told him to immediately offer it to him, like it or not, fill the guitar in my new song. He wanted it, after that we immediately recorded it, yes while hanging out with him, it was over," said the former Dewa 19 vocalist.
"And this process has actually been since 5 years ago. There is another song I have filled with the guitar with him, it's just not released yet. Yes, waiting for the right time."
Once also described the figure of Bumblefoot from his meeting several times.
"It's a really magical person, and he's not complicated either, he doesn't even drink alcohol, doesn't smoke, just I just feed him satay at my house."
"The person likes to sing, he just plays guitar until half past two at my house, from singing with rock songs to Michael Jackson, he just drops it. It's very inspiring to me that there is a guitarist who has such high dedication in the music world. And I think he's the number one guitarist session player in New York, right," concluded Once.
