6 Lampung Residents Are Threatened With 5 Years In Prison And A Fine Of Rp. 100 Million After Being Involved In Illegal Coal Mining
As many as six residents of Lampung Province are threatened with a fine of Rp. 100 billion or a criminal sentence of five years after being named a suspect by the South Sumatra Regional Police regarding the illegal coal mining case.Head of Sub-Directorate IV Tipidter of the South Sumatra Police Ditreskrimsus AKBP Tito Dani said the maximum penalty threat was as regulated in Article 161 of Law number 3 of 2020 concerning mineral and coal mining.This article is subject to police investigators to six suspects from Pesawaran and South Lampung regencies, Lampung Province namely PHS (32), RK (32), AY (22) FS(28), DH (48) and EB (30)."The penalty is imprisonment for five years and a fine of Rp. 100 billion," he told reporters in Palembang, as reported by Antara, Monday, February 20.Tito explained that the threat of punishment was given to the suspect in accordance with the results of the investigation and was supported by the adequacy of evidence.The suspects were arrested by Sub-Directorate IV Tipidter personnel from the South Sumatra Police Ditreskrimsus while crossing Batu Kuning Village, OKU Regency, South Sumatra, on Wednesday (15/2) at around 16.00 WIB.To investigators, they claimed to be serving as drivers and truck conductors who transported coal from illegal mining because they did not have a mining business license (IUP).The illegal coal mine is located in Tanjung Enim Village, Lawang Kidul District, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra.To carry out this task, the six suspects were paid Rp500-Rp5 million per one time for illegal mining coal transportation to Lampung Province."They have been tasked with delivering coal to Lampung many times. The wage money was given by the coal owner with the initials OK, RA and CI who are currently being hunted," he said.From the hands of the six suspects, the police confiscated 98 tons of coal from illegal mining, four units of Mitsubishi Fuso dump trucks, one sheet of travel documents from PT Mulia Indah Bersama."For his actions, the suspect is currently being held in the detention room of the South Sumatra Regional Police's Dittahti, Palembang to undergo further investigation before the case file is transferred to the Prosecutor's Office for trial," said Tito Dani.
