Include The 35 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine In The Truck Charge, The Driver Of The Drug Courier Was Arrested At The Port Of Banjarmasin

KALSEL - The Directorate of Drug Investigation of the South Kalimantan Police (Kalsel) destroyed 35 kilograms (kg) of crystal methamphetamine which was inserted by a truck driver in logistics that he brought by sea from Surabaya, East Java.

"So the evidence destroyed today was caught on January 14, 2023 against a suspect with the initials RS (42)," said Police Chief (Kalsel) Inspector General Andi Rian R Djajadi during the destruction in Banjarmasin, Monday, February 20, confiscated by Antara.

The large amount of drug smuggling was revealed to have started from public information about someone carrying crystal methamphetamine through the Port of Trisakti Banjarmasin.

This information was followed up by the South Kalimantan Police by forming a team that resulted in apprehending a hospital in a hotel in Banjarmasin. The hospital was arrested shortly after the ship he was riding docked at Trisakti Port, Banjarmasin.

"The suspect drove a truck carrying various food products in it tucked into narcotics wrapped in 35 Chinese tea packages," explained the Kapolda.

He admitted that the suspect, who is a resident of Barito Kuala Regency, only acts as a courier and is promised wages for smuggling drugs from Surabaya to South Kalimantan.

The Kapolda emphasized that the war on drug networks continues to be carried out in addition to prevention efforts to break the chain of circulation.

"These drugs enter South Kalimantan because there is a market so that these users must be cured so that drugs do not sell again and the circulation automatically decreases by itself," he said.

The success of the disclosure was appreciated by the Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor and the Chairman of the South Kalimantan DPRD Supian HK who compactly gave awards to the Kapolda and the Director of Drug Investigation at the South Kalimantan Police.

"Today we won the war against drugs again. Imagine if these mandates were to circulate, then how many hundred thousand people and even millions of people would be damaged by this illicit goods," said the governor.

Meanwhile, member of Commission III of the DPR RI Aboe Bakar Alhabsyi who was also present at the extermination admitted that he saluted the performance of the Narcotics Directorate of the South Kalimantan Police for showing extraordinary efforts to uncover drug trafficking.

"During the period December 2022 to January 2023, around 79 kilograms of narcotics were confiscated and destroyed, we appreciate this achievement," he said.

As a representative of the people who are partners with the National Police in the DPR, he supports the South Kalimantan Police Chief to strengthen the ranks of the Narcotics Directorate so that the task of eradicating drug trafficking can be maximized.
