The Tual City Police (Polres) finally managed to arrest DF, who is suspected of being the main perpetrator of clashes between residents in Tual City from January 31 to February 2, 2023.

The 23-year-old was arrested after the Tual Police coordinated with the family. The perpetrator was handed over at around 12.30 WIT in Wakol Village, Kei Besar District, Southeast Maluku Regency.

"The main perpetrators clashed in Tual was arrested last Saturday (18/2). The perpetrator with the initials DF was arrested after the Tual Police officers coordinated with his family," said Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Police, Kombes M Roem Ohoirat, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, February 19.

Roem revealed that after being handed over by the family, the perpetrator was then taken to the Tual Police Station to undergo an examination. He was later named a suspect in the persecution

The DF was the perpetrator of the attack using arrows. His action injured victims Abdul Rahman Muh Sanja Borut on January 31, 2023. The incident then sparked major clashes or attacked each other between residents of the Banda Eli and Yarler complexes in the city of Tual, "said Roem.

The suspect DF has now been transferred to the Maluku Police Detention Center (Rutan) in Ambon city. He was taken on a Lion Air plane.

"The suspect is already in Ambon. He arrived by plane at around 13.00 WIT. The suspect has also undergone a medical examination at the Bhayangkara Police Hospital in Maluku, and is currently being secured at the Maluku Police Detention Center," explained Roem.

Based on the results of the interim examination, the suspect, before committing the crime, first consumed liquor in Langgur.

"So when he was drunk, the suspect came home and committed a crime of persecution using arrows," he said.

With the arrest of the main suspects in the clashes, three hoax spreaders were arrested on the fire of a house of worship. Ohoirat hopes that there will be no more similar incidents in the city of Tual.

"We also express our gratitude and high appreciation to the families who want to hand over the suspects," said Roem.

The contribution of the family to hand over the perpetrators of this crime is also expected to be imitated by other areas prone to clashes in Maluku.

"We hope that the handover of criminals from the family itself can become role models, so that the handling of clashes can be resolved as soon as possible, don't let the perpetrators of crimes be hidden," he hoped.

According to Roem, according to the direction of the Maluku Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Lotharia Latif, during a meeting with the Mayor and all community leaders and the kings in Tual, will be committed if there are individual problems, they must be responsible for the legal process.

He said that every personal problem must be resolved on his own. Do not bring up the name of the village or country, which in the end other people who do not know anything must bear the individual criminal act.

"Jangan karena persoalan individuals terus ditarik menjadikan persoalan negeri atau desa yang akhirnya malah merusak semua dan menimbulkan korban baik kerusakan rumah maupun jatuhnya korban jiwa manusia," katanya.

"Stop the spirit of negative and narrow solidarity, sorry for the children and grandchildren of the next generation who must bear all the problems and damage committed by individuals who commit crimes," he added.

The clash between residents in Tual City began on January 28, 2023 when a food stall owner was abused by a group of drunk people who did not want to pay. As a result of the persecution, the victim's family did not accept it and took revenge, resulting in problems.

On January 31, 2023 at around 22.00 WIT, one of the residents was suddenly hit by an arrow released by an unknown person. As a result of the incident, there was provocation from other groups of residents, then counterattacked.

Furthermore, on February 2, 2023 at around 06.45 WIT, another attack occurred between residents which resulted in more injuries, from 13 to 38 people from the original, including five police personnel who at that time tried to quell the clashes.
