TANJUNGPINANG - One officer for updating voter or panderalih data in East Bintan District, Bintan Regency, was found to be a supporter of one of the prospective members of the Regional Representative Council (DPD). This was found by the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Riau Islands Province.

Bawaslu has asked for clarification from the person concerned and acknowledged it. Bawaslu then wrote to the Riau Islands General Election Commission to immediately replace the person concerned.

"The person concerned has admitted it so we sent a letter to the Riau Islands KPU so that it would be replaced because it did not meet the requirements," said the Head of the Riau Islands Bawaslu, Said Abdullah Dahlawi, as reported by Antara, Saturday, February 18.

Riau Islands Bawaslu member Zulhadril Putra said the selection had only been revealed to support one of the candidates for DPD RI members when factual verification of voter support requirements was carried out, whose schedule coincided with the implementation of matching stages and voter data research conducted by all students.

"Regarding the matching process and voter data research conducted by the students, we ask that they be stopped until the Bintan KPU gets a replacement," he said.

Bintan Regency Bawaslu member Febriadinata said his institution also found two students who were members of the political party board.

However, the two students stated their identities in the political parties. The two students have signed a statement that they are not involved as political party administrators.

"We ask for two directions, not only the one who makes the statement letter, but also the political party which states that it is true that the two members of the plentarilih are not the administrators of the political parties," he said.

Febri appealed to political parties and prospective DPD members not to profit from the identity of people as administrators or supporters.

"It will definitely be found out if you profit because it is listed in the nomination system and information system of political parties," he said.
