KALTENG - Keraya Village in West Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan (Central Kalimantan) is designated as a turtle-friendly village.
The embedding was carried out by the Regional Conservation Section (SKW) II of the Base Bun Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA).
Head of SKW II BKSDA Pangkalan Bun, Dendi Sutiadi, said the embedding began with the handing over of 59 hatchlings found by tourists at Keraya Beach to the local BKSDA team last weekend.
"With the discovery of the hatchling, SKW II BKSDA Pangkalan Bun has made Keraya Village a turtle-friendly village and will develop semi-natural captivity in the Keraya Beach area," Dendi said at Pangkalan Bun, West Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan, Friday, February 17, as reported by Antara.
Currently, the 59 hatchlings have been handed over to the Tanjung Keluang Nature Tourism Park (TWA), which is a scaling turtle conservation area in Central Kalimantan.
His party will also continue to increase the capacity of turtle-loving community groups, in addition to temporarily creating a semi-natural location for turtle breeding and breeding in the Keraya Beach area, Keraya Village.
Dendi revealed that the discovery of the 59 hatchlings began with residents traveling on Keraya Beach on Sunday, February 12. Suddenly a number of tourists saw a turtle calf coming out of the sand.
Curious, the local tourist dug up the sand and found dozens of hatchlings and then placed them in containers for temporary safekeeping.
"Furthermore, the scaling turtle or hatchlings were immediately received by our staff who went directly to the location when they received the report on the discovery of the hatchlings," said Dendi.
He added that when receiving 59 hatchlings, the SKW II BKSDA Pangkalan Bun staff also provided socialization related to turtles. Turtles are protected wildlife of the government.
"This is based on Law Number 5 of 1990 concerning Conservation of Natural Resources and Ecosystems," said Dendi.
