The Deputy Minister Of Religion Ages That ASN Will Not Become Implementers Of Toleration

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Religion Zainut Tauhid Saat the commemoration of state civil servants (ASN) within the Ministry of Religion on the importance of serving the people and maintaining harmony and not being a trigger for intolerance.

"We must not be a thorn in the flesh, a trigger for intolerance or other negative things that can damage harmony in Indonesia's diversity," said Zainut at the opening of the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance (Bimas) quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 14.

Zainut said the potential for identity politicization could worsen social-religious conditions when entering the political year. For this reason, a commitment is needed to carry out the message of the Peace Declaration of Religious People delivered on the commemoration of the 77th Day of Charity Bhakti of the Ministry of Religion some time ago.

According to him, the message of the Peaceful Declaration of Religious People aims to strengthen national commitments to care for diversity which is the biggest gift of the Indonesian nation.

In the declaration, it was also emphasized that the commitment not to use houses of worship as places of campaign or practical political activities as prohibited in the Election Law.

"Let's work together to build Indonesia with the same spirit, namely to make religion an inspiration for progress and harmony. Together we become state servants and services for the people," he said.

He also invited all ASN Ministry of Religion, especially Islamic religious leaders, Islamic religious counselors, penghulu, and KUA Heads, to oversee a dignified democratic process by educating the public to exercise their political rights freely and responsibly.

"I believe in Bimas Islam's commitment to providing the best public service," he said.
