OKU - One resident's house in Sekarjaya Village, East Baturaja District, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra was heavily damaged by a tornado accompanied by rain that occurred on Tuesday, February 7."Based on the results of our monitoring, today at the location, we found that the residents' houses were heavily damaged on the roofs of buildings and walls of houses," said the Manager of the Pusdalops of the OKU Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Gunalfi in Baturaja, Antara, Wednesday, February 8.The condition of the building made of wood was almost razed to the ground after a fallen tree fell on the roof of the house. The impact of the incident was that two occupants of the house suffered minor injuries as a result of being hit by fallen tree branches."There were no fatalities. However, two occupants of the house suffered minor injuries and were given medical treatment," he said.The OKU BPBD team has deployed personnel and heavy equipment to the disaster site to help clean up the material that hit the resident's house. "Currently, our officers assisted by a volunteer team are still helping to repair houses affected by the disaster so that they can be occupied again," he said.To anticipate further disasters, he said, his party is intensifying patrols to all areas in OKU Regency which have the potential for wet-type hydrometeorological disasters to be overcome as early as possible."We also urge the public to increase vigilance considering that based on early warning from the BMKG, extreme weather is still lurking in OKU Regency for the next few days," he said.
