SULTRA - A woman with the initials JMW jumped from the ship she was traveling in after 20 minutes of escaping from Ahmad Yani Ternate Harbor, North Maluku (Malut). It is suspected that the woman wanted to commit suicide.

Victim JMW, a passenger on the Uki Raya 04 motorboat, allegedly plunged into the sea about 20 minutes after the ship left the Ahmad Yani port in Ternate City during a voyage to Manado port, Tuesday, February 7, at around 17.20 WITA.

Another passenger saw the victim jumping into the sea, precisely in the waters between Ternate Island and Maitara Island, Tidore Islands City immediately reported to the ship's captain and then two crew members (ABK) immediately rescued the victim, and were evacuated to the longboat of fishermen passing through the waters at the time of the incident.

At that time, KM Uki Raya 04 immediately contacted officers to evacuate the victim to Ahmad Yani Port and then the victim was taken to the local Army Hospital for medical assistance.

Currently, the victim's condition is improving, but the motive for the incident is not yet known, causing the victim to jump into the sea, while the police are still investigating.

Meanwhile, the Ternate Police, through the Head of the Ahmad Yani Port Police, Iptu Muhammad Yogie confirmed the passenger with the initials JMW who was desperate to throw himself into the sea when the KM Uki Raya O4 ship departed from Ahmad Yani Ternate Port to Manado City.

"Currently, we are still investigating whether it was an attempted suicide or another motive that made the victim JMW dare to jump into the sea when KM Uki Raya 04 was on its way from Ternate to Manado City Port," he said.
