Minister Of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian: Central And Regional Cooperation Successfully Disrupt Inflation
JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian said the cooperation carried out by the central and regional governments had succeeded in reducing the inflation rate."This is a pretty good decline. This means that it is under control and even more under control, once again thanks to the cooperation of all of us," said Minister of Home Affairs Tito when chairing the Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, February 8.Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the inflation rate in January 2023 was 5.28 percent, a decrease compared to December 2022 of 5.51 percent. The decline is considered good news, especially for the government in its efforts to control inflation.Based on this achievement, Tito reminded various parties not to get tired and stop controlling prices, especially from the commodity sector.Moreover, it is known that price fluctuations at the global level reached high numbers. This condition triggered people in a number of countries to demonstrate because the cost of living increased significantly.For this reason, as an effort to be aware of this incident, Tito asked the ranks of the central and regional governments to be more solid in efforts to control inflation. Tito also asked related parties not to be complacent with the decline in the inflation rate.In addition, these parties are also encouraged to remain vigilant, especially with matters that are considered to trigger an increase in inflation rates, such as from air transportation modes, household fuels, to fuel oil.Moreover, the prices in the three sectors are known to be classified as prices that are regulated referring to administrative decisions or government decisions."Be careful with the increase in the price of drinking water. This drinking water is also regulated by the local government," said Tito.
