Reflecting On The State With A High Openness Index, Minister Suharso Calls Open Government Indonesia Can Prevent Corruption

JAKARTA - Minister of National Development Planning (PPN)/Head of Bappenas, Suharso Monoarfa stated, actions from transparency, participation, and collaboration or Open Government Indonesia (OGI) can prevent corrupt practices.

OGI is known to be a form of government accountability to the community.

"If the disclosure can be completely clear, then we can prove that the government is running cleanly and well, so its accountability can be accounted for and so on. In the end, we can prevent corruption in such a way that there is no need for many victims to fall because of this openness," he said at the doorstop after the launch of the "OGI VII National Action Plan" at the Bappenas Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 7, which was confiscated by Antara.

For example, the Goods/Services Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP) has an e-Catalog platform that already stores 2.4 million products by the end of 2022.

The online shopping application developed by LKPP for the procurement of government goods and services in a transparent manner is expected to continue to grow, so that everyone has access to sell goods and services to the government.

"The government is also opening up what is really necessary (related to various commodities needed to be met on the LKPP e-Catalog platform)," said Suharso.

In addition, Indonesia is said to be preparing an Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE), especially to provide access to the public to obtain various data related to development.

Later, the SPBE will integrate all data from the central government and local governments to improve electronic-based public services.

"If we look at countries with a much better openness index (compared to Indonesia), because all the instruments are possible. We are building it, for example in the infrastructure sector, we are preparing an Indonesian data center, an Indonesian cloud. It has also been hard for a long time, such as LKPP which stores data on 2.5 million products (in digital form) and if it increases, then stronger (digital) infrastructure is needed," said Suharso.

Since 2011, Indonesia and 7 other countries have established an Open Government Partnership (OGP) with the aim of mainstreaming government openness by encouraging transparency, participation, innovation, inclusion, and accountability values.

To realize the practice of government openness in Indonesia and carry out its membership in OGP, the Indonesian government in 2021 will form the OGI National Secretariat.

Since then, Indonesia's participation in the OGP is considered to have succeeded in having a real impact on the community and achieving various awards in terms of government openness, both at the global, national, and regional levels.
