Indonesia Together With Australia Joint Intelligence Workshops Regarding Regional Borders
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) held an intelligence workshop with the Australian Border Force (ABF) border guard unit, as a form of consistency in commitment to strengthening personnel capacity.
The event titled Civil Maritime Intelligence and Targeting Workshop or the Civil Maritime Targeting and Intelligence Center was opened by the Acting President Secretary (Plt.) of Bakamla Laksda Bakamla Tatit E. Witjaksono at Ary Hasibuan Hall, Bakamla RI Headquarters, quoted by ANTARA Monday, February 6.
In his remarks read by Plt. Astama Bakamla, the Head of Bakamla, Admiral TNI Aan Kurnia, expressed his gratitude to the instructors from ABF.
The Head of Bakamla also ordered the participants of the exercise to make the best use of the workshop for the strengthening and progress of Bakamla.
The training is a form of realization of the collaboration that was built between Bakamla and ABF by presenting a number of direct teaching staff from Australia, such as Inspector David Potts and Inspector Kelly Ngoc Mai To.
Followed by a number of Bakamla personnel, the opening of the workshop was also attended by a number of ABF representatives such as Superintendent Leighton Morvell, Inspector Keven Gray, and staff of the Australian Embassy in Indonesia Karl Brandt.
The opening of the workshop was marked by a procession of draping participants' signs to representatives of the training participants who were scheduled to last for 5 days at Bakamla Headquarters.
Training materials include Civil Maritime Security Methodology and Threats; Organizational Maritime Environment and Crime; Analysis and Intelligence Cycle; Ship Search, Targeting, and Handling of Evidence; Maritime Information Sources and Small Ships; and Open Source Research.
The workshop, he continued, is useful for developing the capabilities of Bakamla personnel related to maritime intelligence knowledge and skills.
In addition, through this training, he hopes that Bakamla can effectively increase the target of operations in carrying out the task of patrolling the security and safety of the Republic of Indonesia.
