The Kudus BPBD team, Central Java, together with a joint team continue to search for drowning victims in the Gelis River. They are chasing time because the search is limited to seven days. "We plan to trace the 3--4 kilometer river flow," he said. The chronology, starting when six children, including the two victims, were bathing in the Gelis River on Friday (4/2) afternoon.
Four of them took a bath in a shallow spot on the west side, while the two victims took a bath under a bamboo tree on the east side. Umar was allegedly swept away by the swift current of the river, then drowned and asked his friend for help. Alif (9), who is closest in his location, tried to help but was unable to reach the victim's hand, both drowned. Four friends of the two victims then asked local residents for help. Not long after, the Umar victim was found by residents, while Alif was still being searched.
