The Garsela Fault Earthquake Was Damaged 495 Houses And 8 Schools In Garut
A total of 495 houses were reported damaged by the Garsela Sesar activity earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 in Samarang and Pasirwangi sub-districts, Garut Regency, West Java, Wednesday night, February 1.
"We already have a quick assessment team, a quick assessment in the field, from this rapid assessment, we found data on 495 houses that suffered minor, moderate, or severe damage," said Garut Deputy Regent Helmi Budiman, Friday, February 3.
The Garut Regency Government has dispatched a team to handle disaster victims and recorded the amount of damage caused by the shock of the Garsela fault activity in Garut, Wednesday (1/2) night.
The results of reports in the field showed that 495 houses and eight school buildings were damaged. But that figure will be validated again for further decision on reconstruction preparations.
"Today we are validating, later we will find out the amount of loss, we will reconstruct how much the budget is. Today if it is not enough, a maximum of Monday (6/2) there will be results, including what we have to do," he said.
He said that the earthquake disaster only caused material losses, while there were no fatalities. Regarding a resident who was reported to have suffered injuries, according to him, it turned out that he sprained due to panic during the earthquake.
"There were no fatalities, someone panicked and then ran, was shocked and his leg sprained," he said.
He said the residents affected by the earthquake were recorded as many as 1,531 people or 450 families spread across two sub-districts that have now received treatment by the government.
"There are quite a lot of people, namely 1,531 people, in two sub-districts, namely Samarang and Pasirwangi," he said.
Previously, based on information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), there had been a tectonic earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 centered on land at a distance of 19 km southwest of Garut Regency with a depth of 3 km, Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 22:57.21 WIB.
The earthquake shock was felt by a number of residents in Garut Regency, and even made residents scatter out of their homes.
