Malaysian Overstay 6 Years In Cirebon Schooled Immigration

JABAR - The Class I Immigration Office of TPI Cirebon arrested a foreign national (WNA) from Malaysia on behalf of Mohamad Rizal who overstayed for six years.

"The foreigner we arrested came from Malaysia, proven to have violated the immigration law," said Head of the West Java (West Java) Kemenkumham Regional Office, R. Andika Dwi Prasetya in Cirebon, West Java, Wednesday, February 1.

Andika said foreigners on behalf of Mohamad Rizal were arrested by Cirebon Immigration on Saturday, January 14, at around 16.00 WIB. He was arrested at a hotel in Sendang Village, Sumber District, Cirebon Regency.

According to him, the arrest of the foreigner was after his party received information from the public regarding the whereabouts of the suspect, then the team moved to the location in question, after coordinating with the hotel.

Then, continued Andika, officers immediately went to the intended room and it turned out that a foreigner left the room and stated that he was a foreigner from Malaysia.

"We received information that there were foreigners who violated the Immigration Law and exceeded the limits, the team immediately followed up by going to a location where it was estimated that there were foreigners and it turned out that the foreigner was in the room," he said.

After the arrest, he said, the person concerned admitted that he had been in Indonesia since 2016 and entered using a valid tourist visa for 30 days.

Andika added that while in Indonesia, foreigners moved from place to place of residence, even officers had identified that the person concerned was in Tasikmalaya, West Java,

"While in Indonesia, this foreigner from Malaysia worked as an online motorcycle taxi driver," he said.

As a result of his actions, the suspect was subject to Article 119 paragraph 1 of Law No. 6/2011 concerning Immigration with a maximum imprisonment of 5 years.
