Tests Monitor Traffic Violators, ETLE Drones Alreadygliding In Cilacap City

CILACAP - The Traffic Directorate of the Central Java Police held an Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) trial using drones. The activity was carried out at the Simpang Tiga Tugu Lilin Gumilir, Cilacap, Wednesday morning, February 1.

Head of the Subditgakum Violation Section of the Central Java Police Traffic Directorate, Kompol Ilham S Sakti, said the Cilacap Police Traffic Unit and the Indonesian Drone Pilots Association (APDI) carried out socialization and trials of mobile E-TLEs that were integrated with drones.

He said this was a refinement and development of the prosecution of traffic violations through the E-TLE which is currently very massive in Central Java.

"As is known in Central Java itself, there is already a static E-TLE, a mobile handle, and this will be perfected again using an E-TLE that is integrated with drones," said Ilham.

In addition to the Cilacap Police, he said this trial activity was carried out in 35 City and District Police throughout Central Java and the mechanism itself was the same as the E-TLE in general.

"So if the drone is operationalized and finds traffic violations, we will carry out a capturing which after that we will send it to the back office and it will be verified and validated which will then be sent to the address of the offender," he said.

Ilham also added that the E-TLE of these drones is not only for legal action, so it is also part of traffic management to monitor traffic flow situations, especially at certain points such as blind spots.

Head of Traffic Cilacap Police AKP Muhammad Salman Farizi Putera said the mechanism for using drone-based E-TLE in Cilacap itself was still waiting for instructions from the Regional Police.
