Dozens Of Prospective Indonesian Migrant Workers Become Victims Of TIPs Through Juanda Airport

JAKARTA - Head of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) Benny Rhamdhani said he would thoroughly oversee the case of the failure of 87 prospective Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) who were almost victims of criminal acts of trafficking in persons (TPPO) through Juanda Airport, East Java.

"BP2MI ensures that it will oversee the legal process so that the perpetrators are severely punished. There is no tolerance for criminal acts of trafficking in persons (TPPO). The state must not lose," said Benny, quoted from Antara, Sunday, January 29.

A total of 87 non-procedural CPMIs were about to go abroad via Juanda Airport, East Java on Saturday, January 28. The team from the East Java Provincial Security Service and joint officers from the Immigration Department of Juanda Airport, Dansatgaspam Juanda Airport.

Benny said, on the same day, the BP2MI of East Java Province also carried out raids on illegal CPMI shelters claiming to be LPK in Tulungagung.

BP2MI managed to carry out raids at a shelter where a number of women were suspected to be dispatched unofficially.

In that place, the team got three CPMIs with the initials NL (42) a resident of Banyuwangi, T (21) a resident of Donggala Regency and P (27) a resident of Cairo Regency, Papua Province who will be dispatched to Malaysia.

On this occasion, the Head of the East Java Manpower and Transmigration Office, Himawan Estu Bagijo, explained that as many as 87 CPMIs, the majority of whom were women, were taken to the service shelter and Manpower Protection (UPT P2TK) belonging to the East Java Manpower and Transmigration Office (Disnakertrans), Bendul Merisi, Surabaya City.

Himawan said the illegal CPMI departure was not accompanied by valid documents.

"It will be processed to the East Java Regional Police. After the process here, we will submit it to the Regional Police and proof of ticket passports and others," he emphasized.
