KemenPPPA Guarding The Legal Process Of The Santriwati Obscenity Case By Kiai Fahmi In Jember
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA) has confirmed that it will oversee the legal process of the suspect, the leader of the Al Jaliel II Islamic Boarding School, Fahim Mawardi, in the obscenity case at the Al Djaliel II Islamic Boarding School in Jember, East Java.
"We will continue to monitor and coordinate with law enforcement officials regarding the ongoing legal process so that it is carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations," said Deputy for Special Protection for Children at the Ministry of PPPA Nahar when contacted by ANTARA, Friday, January 27.
Nahar gave his appreciation to the Jember Police for seeking good service and protection for victims.
According to Nahar, this case is very worrying considering that sexual violence and physical violence continue to occur in religious-based educational institutions.
"In this Jember case, there is one worrying view, namely from the results of witness/victim statements that the sexual abuse committed by the suspect is not the wrong act and the witness/victim has the view that sexual abuse committed by the suspect is a natural thing," said Nahar.
The Jember Police have named the leader of the Al Jaliel II Islamic Boarding School, Fahim Mawardi, as a suspect in this case.
Fahim Mawardi is suspected of committing sexual abuse and acts of violence against four female students in the Islamic boarding school environment from December 2022 to January 2023.
This case is still under investigation. So far, visum et repertum has been carried out and psychiatric examinations have been carried out on five witnesses/victims from 17 witnesses/victims determined by the Jember Police.
