Corruption Fund For Septic Tanks, Former Head Of Gorontalo Province Demanded 9 Years In Prison

GORONTALO - Corruption in the budget for the construction of human waste or septic tanks, the former Head of the Housing and Settlement Areas (Perkim) Office of Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo Province with the initials AS will undergo a verdict trial at the Gorontalo Corruption Crime District Court (PN Tipikor).

The public prosecutor (JPU) at the Gorontalo High Prosecutor's Office charged the US and the defendant DPAP with imprisonment for 9 years, violating the primary indictment of Article 2, Law Number 31 of 1999, in conjunction with Law no. 20 of 2001 concerning Corruption.

Meanwhile, the other four defendants, respectively MIR, NNA, HP were sentenced to 8.6 years in prison, and violated the primary indictment of Article 2, Law Number 31 of 1999, in conjunction with Law no. 20 of 2001 concerning Corruption.

In August 2022, the Gorontalo Attorney General's Office named the five defendants in the corruption case of septic tank work at the Pohuwato Regency Government Housing and Settlement Office, TA 2021, with a budget ceiling of Rp. 8.759 billion.

They are suspected of violating Primair Article 2 paragraph (1) and Subsidiary Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law no. 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended and supplemented by Law no. 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

Previously, on Friday, May 13, 2022, the Gorontalo High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) Special Crime Investigation Team conducted a search at the Pohuwato Regency Housing and Settlement Office.

Head of the Legal Information Section of the Gorontalo Prosecutor's Office at that time, Mohammad Kasad, said that the search carried out by the Gorontalo Prosecutor's Special Investigation Team was a series of developments in the results of the examination.

The search at the Perkim Service office was carried out based on the development of the results of the witness examination, and was carried out in order to collect evidence and other evidence in the alleged corruption of the project.
