The National Police Are Strengthening Chinese New Year Celebrations Throughout Indonesia Traveling Safely

JAKARTA - The National Police of the Republic of Indonesia stated that the celebration of the Chinese New Year or Chinese New Year 2574 throughout Indonesia is running safely. "All Chinese New Year celebration activities are running safely, both at the location of places of worship, tourist sites and shopping centers," said Assistant Chief of Police Inspector General Agung Setya Imam Effendy in Jakarta, Monday, January 23. Agung said the National Police deployed 24.956 personnel from 34 Polda throughout Indonesia to secure Chinese New Year celebrations at 1.470 Chinese places of worship with 131.900 congregations." The National Police has established 260 Chinese New Year celebration security posts from 21 to 23 January," he said. In securing this Chinese New Year, the National Police organized enhanced police activities so that all Polda deployed their personnel in crowded places (places of worship, tourism and shopping centers). "Personnels also carried out traffic security," said Agung, quoted by Antara. The two-star police chief explained in the security of the Chinese New Year, Police Headquarters gave directions to the ranks police as stated in the telegram letter of the National Police Chief number: STR/52/PAM.3./2023 dated January 19, 2023.

During the Chinese New Year holiday, according to Agung, there was one marine accident in Batu Waters, Labuhan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, namely one sunken tourist boat. However, all passengers were rescued. "The accident occurred on Saturday, January 21 at 12.30 WITA," he said. Then there was a plane crash slipping when it landed due to bad weather and strong winds at Milawak Airport, Beoga District, Puncak Papua Regency. In that incident there were no casualties. The entire crew and passengers, totaling 11 people in a safe condition. From the traffic side, Agung said that the overall movement of the community in the Chinese New Year celebration went smoothly and safely.
