An Earthquake M 7.1 In Meloguane North Sulawesi Was Damaged By 6 Houses In Morotai Malut
JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that 7.1 earthquake tremors (M) in Meloguane, North Sulawesi (Sulut) damaged six houses in Morotai, North Maluku (Malut).
Two houses were damaged in Kabarai Tua Village, South Morotai District; and four houses were damaged in West Sangowo Village, East Morotai District, Morotai Regency," said the acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari in a written statement, Thursday, January 18, confiscated by Antara.
From earthquake vibrations centered in the ocean about 141 kilometers southeast of Meloguane, BPBD recorded as many as 24 people in Morotai with minor injuries.
Currently, the situation in Morotai is conducive. Residents are not panicked and material losses are still being collected.
In anticipation of the potential impact of aftershocks, the local BPBD has provided recommendations to the public to remain calm and not be influenced by issues that cannot be justified.
The public is also asked to avoid buildings that are cracked or damaged by the earthquake.
BPBD also urges the public to always check and ensure that residential buildings are earthquake-resistant enough, or that there is no damage caused by earthquake vibrations that endanger the stability of the building before deciding to return to their respective homes.
