Monitoring The Sales Of Chiki Ngebul, Yogyakarta Health Office Bina School Candidate Management
YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta City Health Office (Dinkes) has increased food safety supervision, especially school snacks in anticipation of the use of liquid nitrogen in food, because it can have a negative impact on health.
"Supervision is carried out during school environmental health inspections. In this supervision, coaching is also carried out for school canteen managers," said Head of the Yogyakarta City Health Office Emma Rahmi Aryani in Yogyakarta, Tuesday.
According to him, the increase in supervision refers to the Circular of the Director General of P2P of the Ministry of Health which asks all Health Offices in the regions together with Puskesmas and hospitals to supervise and educate food entrepreneurs, sellers, students and others in anticipation of food poisoning.
"Dari pengawasan yang kami lakukan sampai saat ini, tidak ada temuan pedagang makanan di Yogyakarta yang menggunakan tambahan nitrogen cair pada makannya," katanya yang menyebut penggunaan nitrogen cair pada makanan dilarang.
He added that there have been several cases experienced by children in a number of areas because they eat foods that contain liquid nitrogen, such as ice smoke or cjili ngbul.
The adverse effects, continued Emma, include cold inflammation and burns in soft skin tissue, difficulty breathing and a burning throat.
Therefore, the Health Service urges the public to be careful and should not eat foods that contain liquid nitrogen to avoid the bad effects on health.
"Moreover, liquid nitrogen does not add any nutritional value to the food consumed," he said.
In addition to the Health Service, the supervision of food containing liquid nitrogen is also carried out by the Yogyakarta Food and Drug Supervisory Center in several locations, such as shopping centers, schools, night markets, and other crowded places.
From the supervision carried out until the end of last week, two traders using liquid nitrogen were found. Traders are given education and guidance that these additional ingredients have the potential to cause food poisoning.
Traders are also asked not to sell snacks with additional liquid nitrogen until there is an official regulation regarding the use of the material.
