Invite The Public To Watch WSBK 2023, Sandiaga Uno Targets 4.4 Million New Jobs

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno invites the public and tourists to attend the 2023 World Superbike (WSBK) which will be held in West Nusa Tenggara, on March 3-5.

Sandiaga said the international motorcycle racing event could have a broad impact on economic revival and the opening of employment opportunities, especially in the Mandalika Super Priority Tourism Destination.

"We invite the public to always welcome the implementation of the World Superbike 2023 which is planned to take place from March 3 to 5, 2023 at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara," he said in a press release, Friday, January 13.

In the 2022 season, Sandiaga said, the number of spectators who witnessed live at the Mandalika Circuit managed to break the highest record in the history of holding World Superbike in various countries, reaching 51,629 spectators.

This number also has a very significant impact on the tourism sector and the creative economy in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

The hotel occupancy rate increased by almost 100 percent and absorbed 6,900 workers. Central Lombok Regency's Regional Original Revenue (PAD) also increased to reach Rp300 billion.

"(Sales) of creative economy products have also increased, thus boosting the image of Indonesian tourism," he said.

"So, I entrust that our MSME booth be presented again. Culinary festivals, music festivals are also presented because tourism and creative economy activities in Lombok and NTB are greatly helped by WSBK," he added.

Sandiaga also invited PT Pembangunan Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) or Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), BUMN Pengelola Kawasan Ekonomi Khusus (KEK) Mandalika or The Mandalika to increase investment in terms of infrastructure and accommodation.

"With the event that continues to roll, especially when the story about formula two and there are several car racing activities, this will also increase the need for the number of hotels there (NTB), in addition to the number of homestays that have more than 1,000 units built by the government and partners," he explained.

"The target is 4.4 million new jobs to be created in 2024. Hopefully, WSBK will bring economic revival and employment, as well as the welfare of the Indonesian people," Sandiaga concluded.
