PT Timah Targets Reclamation Of 400 Hectares Of Ex-mining Lands In Babel
PANGKALPINANG - The achievement of reclamation of land for former tin ore mining in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province carried out by PT Timah during 2022 reached 403.79 hectares, exceeding the target set of 402.5 hectares.
"In 2023, PT Timah targets to reclamation 400 hectares of critical land for former mining in Babel," said Head of Communications Division of PT Timah Anggi Siahaan Siahaan, quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 12.
He said the reclamation of the former mining land carried out by PT Timah Tbk refers to Law No. 3 of 2022 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining. This member of the Indonesian mining holding MIND ID is also obedient to place reclamation and post-mining guarantee funds in accordance with applicable regulations.
"Alhamdulillah, the achievement of the reclamation of critical land that exceeded this target is one of PT Timah Tbk's commitments as a tin mining company in managing former mining land by planting various economic-valued plants," he said.
He stated that this critical land reclamation activity was planted with economic-valued plants such as sengon, sea spruce, guava, palm oil and fruit plants such as oranges, hybrid coconuts, durians, avocados and sirsops.
For reclamation in other forms carried out by PT Timah Tbk in 2022, namely land arrangement to be used for the construction of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) in South Bangka.
"The company carried out a sustainable reclamation and an assessment was carried out by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The reclamation carried out by PT Timah Tbk, there were also reclamations in other forms that were adjusted to the needs of the community," he said.
According to him, PT Timah Tbk integrates the reclamation program with community involvement around operational areas so that it can increase the added value of the community's economy.
