Rusuh Penangkapan Lukas Enembe: 18 Simpatisan Arrested, 1 Died
JAKARTA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri arrested dozens of sympathizers following the chaos after the arrest of Lukas Enembe who was suspected of being involved in a corruption case. A total of 19 sympathizers were arrested and 1 killed by police.
"Indeed, in that incident we arrested approximately 19 people," Fakhiri told reporters, Wednesday, January 11.
Of the dozens of people arrested, two of them were arrested during a riot in front of the Mako Brimob Kotaraja. While the rest are in the Jayapura Regency area.
Then, continued Fakhiri, from the accident that occurred in the Jayapura Regency area, for example, Sentani Airport, one person died. He was dealt with firmly for fighting the police with sharp weapons.
"Of the 17 that we have secured in Jayapura Regency, 1 has been shot and died and the following are 16, we have taken care of their health," he said.
With the death toll, Fakhiri said he would investigate according to procedures. Thus, it can be seen that the rare shooting taken by its members is in accordance with or not the standard operating procedure (SOP).
"I have ordered the Head of Propam and the Director of General Crimes to immediately take steps to carry out an investigation," said Fakhiri.
Meanwhile, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested Lukas Enembe, who was named a suspect in a corruption case on January 10.
In the aftermath of the arrest, Lukas Enembe's sympathizers clashed in several areas, such as Mako Brimob Kotaraja and Sentani Airport.
